We also make our floats partially aluminium - the frame and chassis are still steel for strength and flexibility, but the outside sheeting/cladding is aluminium, thicker aluminium and same strength as steel and still corrugated for strength where the horses are. By having the sheeting aluminium, we are lessoning the weight and also eliminating rust forever as aluminium doesn't rust. Basically, everything that is non-structural is now aluminium.
Plus, the benefit for the horses is that it is actually cooler inside the float than your standard steel float. Steel absorbs heat and retains it whereas aluminium dissipates it leaving the float walls cool to touch which in turn makes it cool inside the float. It's a win for both human and horses so to speak.

Horse Float Lighting:
Rear LED Lights with Reverse Light, 6 Side Amber Lights, 8 Retro Reflectors. Internal 12v LED Lights - one above front entry door and second at rear of float for night time loading.
Horse Float Flooring:
We install a safety feature in the float so that no horses can ever go through the float floor.
A 4mm thick aluminium plate/sheet gets installed in the chassis.
How the aluminium sheet works is that it guarantees that your horses will never go through the floor of your float.
First you have the already reinforced chassis which we use square tubing not angle bar across the width of the float along the whole length of the float at 500mm apart then we use angle bars lengthways to brace everything together like a chessboard. Then we install the 4mm thick aluminium plate and then the 22mm thick honeycomb flooring and then the non slip rubber matting and that is then all glued down so that the float becomes waterproof and you can wash the float out the more the better. The layering of the different materials also can help eliminate road noise.

Float:
Fully enclosed Side Rug Rack, Swing out Tack Box Fully lined with 3 saddle holders and bridle hooks, lockable and waterproof and can be left outside with tailgate closed. Fly Screen on all windows. Fully Lockable float.
Paint Work: 2 pack paint work White as standard with black trim around windows, side door, barn doors and black and aluminium trim around top side of the horse float. Tinted Windows.
Horse Float Bay Dimensions:
Measurements are taken from the middle of the front bay to the middle of the back bay.

The bay measurement of the Horse Transport Truck is 2280mm. We measured 2 separate Horse Transport trucks that are used for the transport of race horses which are usually between 15h - 17h.
The horses in the trucks stand in their bays sideways (not on an angle). This should give you some indication of the length of our horse float bays compared to the Horse Transport Truck bays.
